Summer Blooms Along the Green Knob Loop Trail

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Our Chapter President, Annkatrin Rose, will lead us in search of summer
blooming wildflowers along the Green Knob Trail. We’ll start out with an easy stroll in an open field, which should provide us with an abundance of blooms.

Those wishing to continue on the moderately strenuous 2.1 mile loop trail may do so, while others may choose to turn around at this point. The loop trail includes stream crossings and one steep section.

The trail begins at Sims Pond Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but parking is very limited here. We will meet at the Julian Price Picnic Area Parking Lot, from which we will walk or carpool to Sims Pond Overlook, as appropriate. Julian Price Picnic Area is at mile 296.4 on the Blue Ridge Parkway
