Spring Ephemeral Meander

Join Chapter members as we meander along the Tanawha Trail exploring a rich treasure trove of spring ephemeral wildflowers. The trail crosses seeps and springs, so we’ll see water loving plants as well as the typical ephemerals of the hardwood forests. We’ll start our walk from the Boulder Field parking area on the Blue Ridge Parkway (Milepost 302.4) and head north on the Tanawha Trail. There’s so much to see, the going will be slow. We’ll turn around at the two hour time and head back to the parking area.
Terrain and elevation gain and loss are moderate. Trail tread is natural with rock and roots; may be wet and slippery. You can expect some downed trees and debris from Helene.

Space is very limited in Boulder field: carpooling is recommended. Anyone who wants to is invited to meet at the parking lot at the Shoppes on The Parkway 278 Shoppes on the Parkway Rd Blowing Rock NC 28605. We will leave this lot at 8:30am

Wear appropriate foot wear for the trail, dress for the weather and bring water and a snack.
No Dogs, please.
