Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Valle Crucis Community Park is hosting the 1st Annual Valle Crucis Park Bio Blitz on Sunday, August 1. The Blue Ridge Chapter will have a station at this event from 9 AM to 5 PM to assist with plant identifications. Stop by any time and as long as you want to explore the meadows, wetlands, and along to river and help us find and identify as many different plants, animals, and fungi as we can for the Park’s species list! The event runs from dawn to dusk. Come early for a sunrise bird walk, or stay late to look for moths, owls, and bats.

There will be guided walks and educational activities for children, and experts on hand to help with identifications and iNaturalist questions. If you are particpating in ecoEXPLORE, you can work on earning your Entomology Badge! We are planning to build a milkweed zoo, and several other groups will be joining in on the fun including High Country Audubon and several students from Appalachian State University with displays on hellbenders, crayfish and more. Bring a camera or phone to take pictures. Food trucks will be on site if you get hungry.
