Uwharrie Chapter October Meeting – Practical strategies to manage non-native invasive plants

The Uwharrie Chapter of the North Carolina Native Plant Society will meet at 6 PM on October 13, 2026.

Location: Boy Scout Camp Barnhardt,  44184 Cannon Rd, New London, NC 28127

EVENT DETAILS:

6 PM – Join us for refreshments and socializing in the Pavilion on the shore of Badin Lake

6:30 PM – Guest Speaker Eli Beverly –  Practical strategies to manage non-native invasive plants

Non-native invasive plant species can have a negative impact on native plants productivity and diversity. These plants can quickly colonize, grow, and spread, outcompeting beneficial native flora. No matter if you are interested in native plants in your backyard, or on your “back-forty”, controlling non-native species is critical to promote native ecosystems and the fauna that depends on them.

Join Biologist Eli Beverly for a discussion on practical strategies to manage and control the spread of exotic invasive plant species. Eli is owner of Eli Beverly and Associates, providing land management and forestry support services, specializing in invasive plant species management and control and prescribed burning in the North Carolina Piedmont.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a native plant, seeds or other items for the door prize drawing.

Getting there: Drive down Cannon Rd past the main entrance. The road dead-ends in the camp. Look for our signs. The dining hall is the large building on the right. The pavilion is straight through the camp on the right. If there is rain, we will meet in the dining hall.
