Triad Chapter Annual Seed Swap
The Triad seed swap and seed propagation demo is set for 6:30pm on December 4th at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Library Meeting Room (1420 Price Park Dr., Greensboro, NC 27410)
We will have refreshments, please bring a store bought food or drink to the library to share.
At the start of the meeting Farrell V. Moose will teach us about collecting native wildflower and shrub seeds from the wild in North Carolina. As well as tips for cleaning and successful germination of common wildflowers.
He is the owner of Dutch Buffalo Farm and teaches plant propagation for Central Carolina Community College. Unfortunately, our speaker will not be able to attend due to personal reasons. We are still planning a trip to Dutch Buffalo Farm for a tour in April.
Many members are tremendously knowledgeable about saving and planting native seeds, so it’s a great opportunity to learn! We are big on winter sowing, and hope everyone will grow more native plants!
Seeds should be cleaned and brought in small sizes, such as envelopes, and labeled with common and botanical names, as well as any special planting instructions, as best you can.
Growing from seed keeps our plant populations healthy through diversity, not to mention having plenty of new plants to use on your own property or to share with others. Seed distribution takes place after the program, ending when all seeds are taken. This program is free and open to the public, all are welcome!
Please participate even if you don’t have any seeds to offer, as there are always plenty to share.
