Rewilding Piedmont Environmental Center: Save All We Can
1220 Penny Rd. High Point, NC 27265
Friday, June 5th
9:30am – 12:30
The future of our planet depends on the actions we take today, and you can be a part of the solution.
Join Triad Chapter members as we assist Piedmont Environmental Center (PEC), a 376-acre nature preserve located in High Point with a Bio-blitz to identify native and invasive plants. Our organization is 75 years old this year and we will celebrate with service to PEC.
Two groups will walk the area around the center and trails. A short talk about PEC by staff will be given during lunch provided by NCNPS. This event is limited to 30 participants, 15 in each group. Register if you can stay the entire alloted three hours.
One group led by Environmental Educator, Ann Walter-Fromson, will document native plants found surrounding the center and trails using iNaturalist. We will use a collection project to track our observations.
A second group led by Diane Laslie will identify the most harmful invasive plants, discuss best practices for their elimination and help with hands on removal.
During lunch we will discuss findings and next steps for continued work to protect critical places, rewild native species and support PEC’s conservation efforts.
