Reweaving a Catawba Ecology: Seed Rematriation and Ecology Work in Catawba Nation
DeLesslin “Roo” George-Warren (Catawba Nation Citizen) will speak about his work with Catawba Nation to return Kus Katabare (Catawba Corn), revitalize plant knowledge in the community, and restore the landscape that has sustained his community for millenia. He will also talk about philosophies of the Food Sovereignty movements which have surged across tribal nations the last few years and give examples of innovative work happening in other indigenous communities. Roo is an artist, activist, researcher, and educator living and working on the Manu Wui Ila (Green Earth Reservation) just outside Rock Hill, SC.
