Native Plant Swap & Share for NCNPS Members – May, 2023


The Central Coastal Plain Chapter of the NC Native Plant Society is holding their second annual Native Plant Swap & Share!!! Our chapter has grown tremendously and we expect the turn out to be much larger than last year.
Date:Saturday, May, 20, 2023 (rain or shine)
Time: 8:45 am – 12:45 pm
Location:Congleton Shelter at Creekside Park in Craven County- (far back parking lot, next to Brice Creek, see map below)

Schedule:
8:45 – 9:15  Members arrive with plants they are donating
9:30-10:15  Swap Time for members who are donating plants; participants asked to take no more than 10 plants
10:15- 11:45 Swap & Share Time for ALL members (even if you are not donating plants!); participants asked to take no more than 10 plants
11:45-12:00 Members may take any remaining plants
12:00-12:30 Clean Up (volunteers welcome)- site must be clean and vacated before 12:45

GUIDELINES

NOW is the time to pot up extra plants from your collection, to bring to this event!!

We are planning to email a Plant Availability Spreadsheet before the event, so members can review available plants and make their wish list before the big day. If you will be donating plants, please email the following info to Michelle Fitzpatrick at m_fitzpat@outlook.com
BEFORE MAY 13, 2023

  • Botanical/Latin and common names for the plants you are donating
  • Quantity of each type of plant
  • Your name

ON DAY OF EVENT

*Donated plants

  • Must be native and free of pests & disease
  • Should be in as good a condition as possible and well established in their pots
  • Should be in individual containers- plain, sturdy pots
  • Should be individually labeled with botanical/Latin and common names (i.e. Passifloras incarnata/Passionflower)
  • Should be labeled with donor’s name (so the recipient will know the plant’s source)

*Upon arrival, participants will be asked to sign in and get a name tag.
*There will be some boxes available to transport plants- but you might want to bring your own.
*Volunteers will be available to answer your questions about the plants.
*Please dress for weather conditions. This is a rain or shine event. There is a shelter, but there will be limited space underneath.
*Bathroom available on site.
