Native Plant and Ecology Walk at UNCC Botanical Gardens
THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER.
Check back later for new date.
On October 11th at 2pm, join us for guided tours of the Mellichamp Native Terrace and the Van Landingham Glen at UNCC Botanical Gardens. These gardens are a true gem within our urban environment. They are also a wonderful opportunity to see a variety of native plants as you consider what to add to your home gardens and where they might best thrive.
In order to safely visit the gardens we are limiting these tours to 40 registered NCNPS members only. To register, send an email to ncnativeplantspc@gmail.com.
Upon arrival we will break into 3 separate tour options. The horticultural garden tour will be led by Ed Davis, Horticultural Supervisor and Landscape Architect. Two separate ecology/native plant/habitat tours will be led by Carrie DeJaco, Associate Professor of Biology, Pfeiffer University and Laura Domingo, Naturalist, Reedy Creek Nature Center.
Tours will last approximately 1 hour and focus on the Mellichamp Terrace within the Susie Harwood Garden (for more info click here: https://sites.uncc.edu/
Parking in Lot 5, 9303 Martin Village Rd, Charlotte, NC, 28262
We ask that all visitors wear a mask during the hike and while visiting the gardens. The small groups are designed to allow for social distance as we learn, explore and commune with nature. The McMillan Greenhouse is not open at this time and there will be no bathrooms available to visitors.
