Monarch Celebration at Reedy Creek Park
Volunteer here with Signup Genius
NCNPS is volunteering at the Monarch Celebration at Reedy Creek Park, organized by City of Charlotte. What better way to celebrate this incredible pollinator than to distribute packets of seeds for its host plant — milkweed! If you or someone you know has milkweed seeds you’d like to contribute, please reach out to SouthernPiedmontCo@ncwildflower.org. We will be focused on distributing the follow milkweed species, but we’ll take other native species:
– Common milkweed (asclepias syriaca)
– Butterfly weed (a. tuberosa)
– Swamp milkweed (a. incarnata)
If you can’t volunteer but you still want to bring the family, come grab a packet or seeds and say hey! Seeds available until they run out. Any remaining seed packets will be given to Reedy Creek Nature Center for their native seed library.
Time slots: 9:30-11:30pm & 11:30-1:30pm
The event opens to the public at 10a, but we will start setting up at 9:30a.
We will provide all the supplies needed for this event, including brochures and other handouts that people can take home with them. We only ask that you bring water for yourself, a folding chair, and a desire to get folks excited about native plants!
