Zoom talk about progress with the Jackson County District 4 Conservation Plan

The public is invited to join friends and members of the Oconee Bell Chapter for this talk to be given via Zoom.

WHEN: Tuesday, 11 Feb 2025, 6:45 PM – 8:00 PM

Dr. Bill Horton introduced an initiative to develop recommendations on how District 4 of Jackson County can balance the conservation of natural assets with ever-growing development pressures when he gave a brief talk before Doug Tallamy talked as part of the Neighbors for Conservation event on November 7, 2024, at Camp Merrie-Woode.

He will be joined by Owen Carson who works in the role of Plant Ecologist for Equinox Environmental, a firm that has been granted numerous awards for a wide variety of projects in our region. Owen is a Certified Associate Ecologist (Ecological Society of America, 2012) trained in NC Surface Water Identification (2013), Wetland Shrubs ID (2013), Sedges of the Southern Appalachians (HBS 2014), and Carolina Vegetation Survey monitoring protocols (CVS-EEP 2011). A great article by Owen Carson was published in our local newspaper, the Transylvania Times.

This event is free and open to the public, but to attend the talk on Tuesday Feb 11 at 6:40 pm, you must “Register” at the link below to get the Zoom link.
