Bluestem Nature Preserve & Conservation Cemetery, Cedar Grove, NC

Bluestem is a new 87-acre nature preserve in Cedar Grove, NC, with a third in grasslands and the remaining two thirds in native Piedmont Forest. The grasslands – former farm fields -are being restored into native grasslands and pollinator habitat. Over 3.5 miles of natural surface pathways and trails for walkers and hikers wind throughout the property. Alongside the conservation and restoration work, Bluestem offers the option of green burial in its conservation cemetery.

We will tour Bluestem with the preserve’s directors, who will tell us about their conservation mission and purpose, restoration work both in the prairie and the forest, and their goal of modelling a climate resilient landscape.
