Chapters in Action

If you were to name a cornerstone of the North Carolina Native Plant Society, it would surely be our eight chapters across the state. They are what makes us an impressive and vibrant community.

Here are some recent Chapters in Action photos from Carol Peoples and Anna Meadow Helvie with Central Coastal Plain Chapter; Nancy Anderson with Oconee Bell Chapter; Amy Mackintosh and Margaret Partridge with Reid Chapter; Nancy Laffey and Charley Winterbauer with SE Coastal Plain Chapter; Craig Maxwell with Southern Piedmont Chapter; and Sarah Flores and Adam Webb with Triad Chapter.

Coastal Plain Chapter pulls Privit (Ligustrum sp) at Creekside Park in New Bern; enjoys a hike at Flanners Beach with John Dollard; and visits Above the Briery. Plants found at the Briery include Little Brown Jugs (Asarum virginicum) and Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis).
Oconee Bell Chapter members gather for a group photo, host a plant exchange in Cashiers, hike below Upper Whitewater Falls Foothills Trail, and enjoy Oconee Bells blossoms.
Reid Chapter members enjoy uncommon spring ephemeral Isopyrum (Enemion biternatum) at Willie Duke’s Bluff along the Eno. Reid Chapter members at Durham Master Gardener Plant Fest and Bluestem Conservation Cemetery.
Southeast Coastal Chapter members, with guide Duane Truscott, explore Ev-Henwood Nature Preserve, a 174-acre tract owned by University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Southern Piedmont Chapter members hike at Morrow Mountain State Park, part of North America’s oldest range, the Uwharrie Mountains. Trail guide Ken Knight discusses native plants, vernal pools, wildlife, and history.
Triad Chapter members are at a Greensboro Parks & Rec native plant giveaway, a guided hike at Strieby Wood with David Crafts, and the 3rd Annual Native Plant Fest of Greensboro.
