To preserve and protect native plants in North Carolina, the NCNPS offers four funding opportunities for research, education, restoration, land conservation, and garden installation.

Students

 

Tom and Bruce Shinn Fund


  • NC graduate and undergraduate students
  • Research on plants native to North Carolina
  • Research on invasives impacting local flora
  • Deadline March 1

Community Organizations

 

B.W.Wells Stewardship Fund


  • Community or school native plant gardens
  • Removal of invasives and/or restoration projects
  • Creation of educational materials on native plants
  • Deadline September 1

Land Conservation

 

Alice Zawadzki Land Conservation Fund


  • Land purchase for conservation purposes
  • Border surveys and legal fees
  • Floristic surveys related to easements and purchase
  • Deadline June 1

Scholarships

 

Cullowhee Native Plant Conference


  • Scholarship to attend conference
  • For students, teachers, and young professionals
  • Program administered by Western Carolina University
  • Deadline in Spring
