Tour of the Prairies, Adventure Trail, and Native Plant Nursery at Daniel Stowe Conservancy
This is a members-only event, limited to 40 registrants. The registration link will be available closer to the event date.
Since rebranding to Daniel Stowe Conservancy, native plants and their habitats are receiving more attention than ever across our 380 acre property in Belmont, NC. Visitors will take a walking tour of 5 acres of managed Piedmont prairie habitat and 7 acres of pine savanna restoration. We will then continue through the secondary oak-hickory forests along the children’s Adventure Trail and view 5 themed nature ‘rooms’ designed for play and outdoor interaction. Effects of invasive species removal and prescribed fire will be discussed throughout the visit. Finally, we will stop by our Native Plant Nursery, which is in its second year of operation and focuses on growing plug plants of remnant grassland species collected from wild populations in the greater Charlotte region.
