Less Lawn, More Life: A Suburban Native Garden Tour
This event is for members only, limited to 15 attendees. Registration will open soon!
On this native garden tour, visitors will see how Nancy, the property owner, is transforming dry, struggling garden areas and swaths of lawn into native plantings that support birds, bees and butterflies! She will discuss how she has worked to improve the soil, removed areas of grass and which native plants are thriving around her home in dry sun, dry shade and moist part-sun/shade. After 3 years of adding native perennials, shrubs, trees and walking paths, it’s been lots of fun observing how the changes support a fascinating variety of pollinators. We should be able to find different species of native bees that visit the specific plants they’ve evolved to sip from, pollinate and shelter their eggs. Come share information with the group and learn how to create beautiful, low-maintenance landscapes using plants native to North Carolina.
