Tour of Nate’s Suburban Native Garden

Tour Nate’s 3/4 acre suburban garden in a community with a strong HOA. Nate has planted over 9K perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees in his suburban garden. Over 70% of those plants are native to the Southern Piedmont of North Carolina. Nate and his wife, Pam, built the home in 2021 on an empty lot in an established suburban community. After moving in January 2022, Nate began planting his garden that first Spring. Nate’s garden is a certified NCNPS Native Plant Habitat and a certified Wild One’s Native Habitat. He has navigated various HOA restrictions and convinced the neighborhood HOA to allow him to create a wilder, more natural landscape than what is currently planted in the neighborhood.
