
Natural Communities of Haw River State Park
Join us at 6:30pm on Wednesday January 8th at the KCE Library to learn about the history of Haw River State Park, the natural plant communities found there, and park efforts to protect these ecosystems for future generations.
Lindsey Purvis is a park ranger for North Carolina State Parks assigned to Haw River State Park in Browns Summit, NC. A Tarheel graduate, she has worked for the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation since 2014 starting as a seasonal park attendant at Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve. She also worked for the North Carolina Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill as a summer camp counselor and William B Umstead State Park in Raleigh as a general utility worker before becoming a ranger at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area in 2017. She has been a ranger at Haw River State Park for five years. Her favorite natural subject is botany.
