To attend this event, please register through the Mecklenburg County Parks & Rec volunteer portal.

As a follow-up to our Habitat Restoration Walk on Oct 21st, we will be participating in an invasive plant removal at James Boyce Park, allowing more space for native plants to establish and thrive!

“Project Captain” Bruce Chapman leads Volunteers in caring for James Boyce Park and restoring natural habitat by removing invasive plants! We will cut and/or pull up invasive English ivy, privet and autumn olive, giving native plants a better home to grow!

Use the listed address for the Park – 300 Boyce Road, 28211 – and meet by the kiosk, near the restroom building in the last parking area.

  • Volunteers must be at least age 10
  • Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/adult
  • Wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes for safety
  • Face coverings are optional – please use your own judgement and respect others’ space
