Mitchell Millpond Walk

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Granite of the Rolesville Batholith is well exposed at Mitchell’s Millpond State Natural Area.  This 93-acre site is a Registered Heritage Area, and contains some of the best examples of native plant communities that grow in such a “granitic flatrock” environment.

Registration is required –  both for social distancing and to protect this special plant community.  Sign up below.  (and for those of you new to Signup Genius – you need to click through until you get to the place where you fill in your name, email and # of people.  The first “sign up” button doesn’t finish the signup.)

If you want to visit Mitchell’s Millpond on your own and want to know where to enter to see the prettiest parts of the site, email ReidChapter@gmail.com for advice.  The entry at the site’s sign is gets you to the old dam, but otherwise mostly privets and briers.

The event is finished.
