Resilient Landscapes Booklet
This booklet is a practical guide for anyone who wants their yard to do more! Inside, you’ll find:
- How to “read” your landscape (sun, shade, slope, soil, and water movement)
- Green infrastructure solutions for stormwater and erosion (rain gardens, bioswales, dry stream beds, and more)
- A step-by-step guide to reducing lawn and planting natives
- Why leaf litter, brush piles, and “messy” gardens are essential wildlife habitat
- Native vs. non-native plant swaps you can start today
Whether you’re in Western North Carolina’s Southern Blue Ridge ecozone or gardening elsewhere, the core message applies everywhere: understanding your land, and choosing plants that evolved with it, is the most powerful, low-maintenance path to a resilient landscape.
If you care about biodiversity, clean water, and building a garden that works with nature instead of against it, this one’s for you. Feel free to share with anyone who loves birds, gardens, or just wants a yard that takes care of itself a little more.
