Wildflower Walk at the Great Blue Heron Loop Trail
Wednesday, April 15th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
We will be walking the Great Blue Heron Loop Trail at the Iron Ore Belt Access of Haw River State Park (the same trail that we hiked last year).
Starting time is 10:00 a.m., so please arrive by 9:45 a.m. to be ready to begin at 10:00. There are basic restroom facilities at the trailhead. We will take a rest break at the midpoint of the hike where there are picnic benches, so please bring a snack or a bag lunch as well as water. The hike is about 4 miles total, with some slight changes in elevation. Wear good walking shoes and bring binoculars and a walking stick if desired. Depending on how many wildflowers we find, we may take three and a half or four hours for this hike. We anticipate returning to the parking area by 2:00 p.m.
Limited to 12 participants (you must have an active membership to register)
Rain date: Wednesday, April 22
The Iron Ore Belt Access is located at 6068 N. Church St., Greensboro, NC 27455. Turn right on Iron Ore Belt Access Road to reach the parking area by the kiosk and trail head.
