20/9/13 Penny’s Bend/Harrelson Tract Walk

Herb and Pat Amyx showed us around the North Carolina Plant Conservation’s Harrelson Preserve to learn about and admire the plants that like basic soil in this unusual Piedmont Prairie. Amy Mackintosh led the group around Penny’s Bend, a nature preserve on the Eno River, managed by the NC Botanical Garden. Both sites feature unusual geologic formations that shape the sites and support rare plant species.
