Notes:

Colonial, with long, trailing stems and stout, curved prickles. Leaves usually have 3 leaflets, occasionally 5, and stay on late into the fall. Fruit is purple-black to black and tasty.

Arching to trailing dewberry with alternate, compound leaves (3 to 5 leaflets). Stem may be hairy initially, but lacks the reddish, bristly hairs of Southern Dewberry (R. trivialis).
