Cullowhee Native Plant Conference 2020 - Canceled

(July 22-25, 2020)
Event Sponsor: NC Native Plant Society

Join fellow NC Native Plant Society members in Cullowhee next summer for hikes, lectures and connecting with a wide variety of fellow native plant geeks!

The Cullowhee Native Plant Conference has been held annually at Western Carolina University since 1984 and was the first native plant conference. Since then it has spawned many regional conferences as the native plant movement has gained more recognition and interest. The conference draws academic leaders, landscape architects, horticulturists, botanical garden directors and staff, ecology and environmental leaders and garden enthusiasts from across the Southeast, from Delaware and Pennsylvania to Florida and Texas.

The Cullowhee Native Plant Conference began in 1984 with a grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority to underwrite a “Plant Utilization” meeting. Since then the combination of field trips, workshops, lectures and social networking opportunities have become a model for similar native plant gatherings across the country. The 2020 Cullowhee Native Plant Conference will be held from July 22 to July 25, 2020.

Scholarships are available through Cullowhee to students to inspire the next generation of leaders in the fields of botany, ecology and environmental science focused on the importance of native plants in our landscape. For more information visit:
