SUMMARY:Triad Chapter Seed Swap
DESCRIPTION:The Triad seed swap is set for December 4 at Hagan-Stone Park, Shelter #2. Just think of all the possibilities! We are big on winter sowing, and the photos from Diane Laslie show the results of last year. You can grow natives, too. Time: 12:30 p.m. to deliver seeds, with program starting at 1:00 p.m.\nWinter sowing by Diane Leslie\n\n\n\n\n\nNote:  Seeds should be cleaned and brought in small sizes, such as envelopes, and labeled with common and botanical names as best you can. And, you can participate even if you don’t have any seeds to offer, as there are always plenty to share.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWinter sowing by Diane Leslie\nThis year’s program will be an informal sharing of tips that work well with winter sowing, plus any recommendations for success with growing natives from seeds. Growing from seed keeps our plant populations healthy through diversity, not to mention having plenty of new plants to use on your own property or to share with others. Seed distribution takes place after the program, ending when all seeds are taken. Please join us!\n\nClick here for a map of Hagan-Stone Park ( https://www.guilfordcountync.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/724/636645941591370000 ). To reach Shelter #2, follow Cedar Rd across the ponds and take turn right into the first parking area. When looking at the map, Shelter #2 sits just to the left of the left tip of Pond #1.\nHagan-Stone Park is located at 5920 Hagan-Stone Park Rd, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313. Click here for a link to Hagan-Stone Park on Google Maps. ( https://goo.gl/maps/QihAcC7Wq5ehVpoU6 )\nIf you are interested in collecting seed to share but are not sure how to do that, especially if you want to involve your children in collecting and packaging some seeds, Nancy Adamson would be happy to meet at Dunleath Community Garden to show you which plants it’s ok to collect seeds from in the front flower beds. Please write to Triadco@ncwildflower.org ( mailto:Triadco@ncwildflower.org ) if interested. She suggests saving envelopes from your junk mail for seed saving (just the ones that have straight openings across the back–the v-shaped openings tend to leak the seeds). To see a list of seeds that are available, visit https://dunleathgarden.wordpress.com/plants-to-share/ ( https://dunleathgarden.wordpress.com/plants-to-share/ ). The right hand column has the seed plants (though not all available at this time of year).\nLooking forward to seeing you!!\nKeep in touch! All NCNPS members receive emails via their chapter affiliation, but the Triad Chapter also has a groups.io listserv that we use for sharing events, extra plants, and other native plant news. If you would like to be part of this informal listserv, please contact Triadco@ncwildflower.org ( mailto:Triadco@ncwildflower.org ).\n
