SUMMARY:Pocket Prairies with Maegan Luckett
DESCRIPTION:Pocket Prairie at Duke Gardens\nMaegan Luckett of Duke Gardens will share tips for creating a pocket prairie in our Piedmont landscapes in this zoom meeting. \nA pocket prairie is a planting using native grasses and wildflowers with the intent to attract pollinators and reduce maintenance costs. Come hear Maegan discuss the pocket prairies she and her colleagues at Duke Gardens have been installing in a parking lot median at Duke Hospital.  You’ll hear the why’s, and the how’s as well as the what’s of pocket prairies and what Maegan has learned so far about the best practices for planting these unique garden spaces.  \nTriad NCNPS members will receive the zoom invitation within a week of the program. All are welcome, but non-members need to register HERE ( https://forms.gle/t3KHYaEE3g7wAGCn9 ) in advance to receive the zoom invitation. NOTE: the invitation to non-members goes out the evening before the program, so if you register after October 2nd, be sure to read the registration page carefully to ensure you receive the invite.\nMaegan says she is thrilled to be able to marry her twin loves of Botany and Horticulture professionally. Her current favorite plant is orange milkweed Asclepias tuberosa, but it will change tomorrow, she added.\nMaegan Luckett is the Horticulturist in the Blomquist Garden of Southeastern Native Plants at Duke Gardens\nWe record the programs and they are posted on the NCNPS YouTube Channel ( https://www.youtube.com/user/ncwildflowers ) within a week of the live event (assuming all goes well…), along with all the other chapter programs presented via the web–a rich collection worth exploring!!\n
