SUMMARY:Winter Sowing Workshop, Durham
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Megan Brame, Venue: Night School Bar\nLearn how to utilize the easiest seed-starting method called “Winter Sowing”, using Mother Nature to provide the winter stratification period that many native plant seeds need before they will germinate.\nWith this method, seeds are started in translucent jugs (i.e. 1 gallon milk, juice, or water jugs), that serve as mini-greenhouses, and are placed in the shade outside to let nature work its magic. The jugs protect seedlings from pests, allow for the necessary cold-moist stratification, and result in a high germination rate. We will cover all of the basics, including benefits, materials, timing, common pitfalls, etc. Soil and seeds will be provided – list will be provided closer to the event. Bring your own jugs and $5 fee for supplies.\nRegistration required ( https://northcarolinanativeplantsociety.wildapricot.org/event-6460997 ), cap of 24, NCNPS members have priority.  Registration opens to non-members on December 19.\nNote: The Durham venue – the Night School Bar – is a 21+ venue – no minors and no outside drinks allowed.\n
