SUMMARY:Walk in Jamestown with Marie Poteat(RSVP)
DESCRIPTION:Please note that this is a member event with limited space. Kindly contact Lynda Waldrep who is handling registration or write to nancy@ncwildflower.org who will forward to Lynda. We will add a note to the title when it’s full.\nThe Triad Chapter’s September meeting will be a walk at Marie Poteat’s property in Jamestown, NC. Over a 10 year period, Marie has restored the former farm with native plants including native grasses and perennials. Marie’s property is always a delight to visit, but in early fall there are many flowering perennials such as asters, silphiums, and a host of other native plants. Marie has extensive plantings for wildlife, including native wildflower meadows, native plum orchards and hedgerows, a pond and other riparian areas. She also plants wildilfe food plots using a mix of flowering annuals and grasses. She showcases a huge diversity of wonderful native plants and has tremendous knowledge of how to restore habitat. John Isenhour of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission wrote a beautiful piece highlighting her beautiful work called “Hands-on, Home Place Habitat” (starts on page 57).\nWe hope you can join us for this special event. Note that restrooms are not available and all COVID-19 precautions will be taken.\n
