DESCRIPTION:This meeting will be held at Reedy Creek Nature Center in their classroom, as well as online via Zoom (REGISTER TODAY ( https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZcsfuitrTsiGdX_Si8ZmY2FA9cGoeIv2fuu )).\nEach year, through the support of the Tom & Bruce Shinn Fund ( https://ncwildflower.org/shinn-fund/ ), NCNPS awards grants of up to $1000 to NC students conducting research on native plants and their habitats. In this meeting, 4 of the 2024 recipients will present on work that your donations are helping to fund! The presenters and their topics are:\nErin Eichenberger – NSCU PhD \n“Investigating populations and pollinators of Echinacea laevigata (Asteraceae) to further conservation efforts”\nLauren Willhite – NCSU Master’s \n“Long-term survivorship and species invasion post-restoration on Rocky Branch”\nLydia Cox – Duke University \n“Herbarium collections assist with disentangling the effects of climate change on flowering phenology of native carnivorous plants.”\nLeigha Henson – AppState Master’s \n“Warming and Precipitation Effects on Several Common Moss Species of the Southern Appalachian Mountains”\n
