SUMMARY:DeJaco Fall Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:\n\nCarrie DeJaco will show us around the certified native garden she has built at her home in Kannapolis, NC. This is a members-only event and you will receive the address for the tour via email once you register. Register here today! ( https://northcarolinanativeplantsociety.wildapricot.org/event-5347155 )\n“When we moved to this property in Jan. 2018, the 2-acre property was mostly cleanly mowed lawn, like a golf course. Most of this lawn was actually monkeygrass. There were islands of Chinese hollies, privets, and camellias here and there, with English ivy as the main ground cover. The house had only had one owner since it was built in the ‘50s, so it had probably been maintained like this for 60 years. Many of the shrubs have certainly been in place for many decades.  Since 2018, there has been significant removal of invasive species, though it is a continuing battle. There are now sun and shade gardens of native plants and “meadow” areas throughout the property, with more than a hundred species of native plants.”\n\n\n2018 vs. Spring 2022\n\n\n
