SUMMARY:Native Plant Fest at Maxie B’s
DESCRIPTION:This is the second annual plant fest as a joint event between the NCNPS Triad Chapter and Maxie B’s.\nWe will have native plants to give away to attendees (first come, first served), native plant information (why to plant natives, where to purchase), door prizes, and complimentary desserts by Maxie B’s. Highlights of the event are casual tours of our garden beds (which are right in the middle of a parking lot!) and time for conversation with potential members of our chapter. Our hope is to reach folks who are not already “in the know” about how amazing the world of native plants is. We will send them home with complimentary plants and guide sheets for how to incorporate natives into their garden…whether in a pot on an apartment patio or into a larger garden. Every plant makes a difference!\nFeatured photo: Visitors and volunteers at the Native Plant Fest at Maxie B’s in 2021 (photo thanks to Triad NCNPS member).\nMonarch butterfly on swamp milkweed in the container native plant garden at Maxie B’s (photo by Sofia Kroll)\nRobin Davis, owner of Maxie B’s and creator of certified wildlife habitat in front of the store (photo by Heather Pinho)\nThis program is free and open to the public, and all are welcome! Maxie B’s is located at 2403 Battleground Ave., Greensboro, NC 27408 ( https://www.google.com/maps/place/Maxie+B's/@36.1034591,-79.8277585,16.62z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x88531ea6842e9e37:0x3fdd589815e648b2!8m2!3d36.1031188!4d-79.8249943 ).\nNative plants and information shared with attendees at the Native Plant Fest at Maxie B’s in 2021 (photo by Sarah Flores)\nA fun way to learn a lot about native plants! (photo by Sarah Flores)\nMost of our monthly programs (the first Wednesday of each month) are also posted on the NC Native Plant Society YouTube Channel ( https://www.youtube.com/c/ncwildflowers ) within a couple weeks (when all goes well). Click on “Playlists” to see programs from each chapter. This fun field event is strictly in-person (no recording). We hope you’ll be inspired to plant more natives wherever you can by experiencing the beauty of the plants and their visitors. Click here ( https://ncwildflower.org/triad/ ) to visit the Triad Chapter’s webpage ( https://ncwildflower.org/triad/ ).\nMonarch butterfly caterpillar on one of the swamp milkweed plants in the native plant container garden in the parking lot at Maxie B’s (photo by Robin Davis)\nThank you for joining the North Carolina Native Plant Society as a member or guest to learn more about the ecology of our region!!! We look forward to seeing you!!!\nWe hope you’ll consider becoming a member ( https://ncwildflower.org/join-us/ ), volunteering, and/or helping to promote our education and outreach work by sharing with your friends and family. Thank you again!\nNOTE: The Triad Chapter has an informal listserv for members and friends in the Triad area who have events, native plants, or questions to share. To join the listserv, please write to Triadco@ncwildflower.org ( mailto:Triadco@ncwildflower.org ) with your name and a little bit about your interest in being on the listserv (so we know you’re a real person in our community). NCNPS members receive notices from NCNPS, but that is not set up for community exchange, as the informal listserv is. We look forward to hearing from you!\nSlide made Diane Laslie from screenshot of Maxie B’s website of the native plant container garden and treats shared by Maxie B’s for the Native Plant Fest in 2021 (photos by Heather Pinho and other Maxie B staff).\n
