Habitat Description:

Open sands of dunes, dune blowouts and overwashes, often growing with perennial grasses such as Uniola paniculata, but preferring open sands with little competition,
sometimes mixed with the more common E. polygonifolia, per Weakley.

Very similar to Northern Seaside Spurge, Southern Seaside Spurge has slightly smaller seeds and differs in habitat (behind the foredune rather than on the upper beach and foredune.)
