A Fall wildflower hike at the Laurel Hill, Catawba Lands Conservancy site with opportunities to see Bigleaf Magnolia in fruit (Magnolia macrophylla), Schweinitz’s sunflower (Helianthus schweinitzii), Hearts-a-bustin’ or Strawberry Bush in fruit (Euonymus americanus). Wear long pants, sturdy shoes, hat. Bring water and bug spray.

For our Fall 2017 outing, the statewide society is pleased to partner with the Southeast Coast Chapter. On Saturday, September 16th, the 3rd Annual Native Plant Festival, sponsored by the Native Plant Alliance, will be held at New Hanover County Arboretum in Wilmington. On Sunday, September 17th, the North Carolina Native Plant Society has organized half-day hikes to nearby EV-Henwood Nature Preserve and the Green Swamp Preserve. All Saturday events are free and open to the general public and no registration is required. Sunday hikes will require registration via NCWildflower.org registration (must log in or register as a guest) and a fee of $10.00 will entitle registrants to participate in both the morning and afternoon hikes.
