Chapter members were treated to a tour of the NC Museum of Natural Science’s Prairie Ridge site in Raleigh. Kim Smart and Jesse Perry showed us the “green” outdoor classroom, the developing display garden with two rain garden features, the loop through the tall grasses and the new NC Native Tree Arboretum.

This small structure has a planted roof. It catches rainwater in recycled pickle barrels that is used on the garden. It can also be used as a small classroom
The Conoclinium coelestinum, Mistflower, really drew the butterflies, Variegated Fritillary (Euptoieta claudia).
It was a dreamy day in the waving grass with all the insects
