June 3, 2017 Picnic and Annual Meeting 10 AM - 3 PM
ARC Building at Hagan Stone Park
Pleasant Garden, NC
Yeah! Spring is coming. This is your opportunity to come join us for our Annual Spring Picnic and Plant Sale.
As always, good food, good friends and Great Plants!
We will have a short annual review of all that the North Carolina Native Plant Society has accomplished and an introduction and big fat thank you to all of our volunteer officers and board members.
John Neal will be in attendance this year again with a collection of books for sale.
Lisa Tompkins will present a program at 10 AM about planting in communities.
The meal will be fried chicken and Bar B Que from Smithfields, and all the fixin’s will be the large and delicious collection of side dishes that all the members in attendance bring to share. The NCNPS will provide tea and water, ice and paper products.
10- 11 Lisa Tompkins - Program on Planting in Communities
11-11:30 - Free Time
11:30 - Annual Meeting and Election
1-3 Plant Auction
And the very best part! This is the time to get good quality, native North Carolina plants to get your garden and yard in beautiful bird and bee stopping point condition. This sale is how we keep our NCNPS scholarships healthy and funded. If you have plants you would like donate to the sale, please bring them to the auction.
It helps immensely if they are:
1. Not in fancy pots
2. Clearly labeled with the botanical and/ or common name
3. A short description written for the auctioneer
4. Not a rare, threatened or endangered species, unless they were grown on your own land (if so, you will be asked to fill out documentation at the picnic)
Smaller items or multiples may be placed on the sale table, due to time constraints.
So Come On Along! It is such a great time for friends, foliage, food and finds!
So bring your favorite dish, your favorite checkbook and a great big truck to take all the things home you are going to buy!
Take a left just inside the entrance of the park, drive through the gravel parking lot onto an asphalt driveway to the end of the road. Parking will be at the Event Center and just below in the Camp Joy building parking lot. I don’t want folks to drive all the way back to where we used to picnic. You might even want to say NEW LOCATION so folks will pay attention to the new building location.
This is a link to the map and the building is in the bottom left of the map.
Google Maps address for the picnic location: 5920 Hagan Stone Park Rd.
